Maria Cambra

Me:
Hey there, my name is Maria and I am 15 years old but I turn 16 on October 10th. I live in Sant Cugat, a little town near Barcelona. My passion is field hockey, I train almost everyday and I've played since I was 8 years old. When I have free time I usually hang out with my friends but if I am tired I just stay at home and I watch a movie.
I am an open-mind person and very sociable but the best adjective to describe myself is ambitious, because if I have something in my mind, I  fight for it until the end to reach my goals.

Day 1:
We arrived in Dublin and we took the bus to go to the Malahide castle. Once we arrived, we took a lot of pictures there because the light was really good and there was a big green field. The castle was impressive and beautiful.
Then everyone went with the family. I shared the house with Cristina Krakkai. Our first impression wasn't good because the house was kind of messy and there  were three little kids a bit annoying. But at the end we realized that the family was pretty good because they treated  us right and the kids were so funny that they made us laugh all the time.

Day 2:
Fisrst we visited Dublin by bus learning more things about the city and his history. We saw the river Liffy.

And then we went around the city with a guide and we visited:

  • Merrion Square Park
  • Merrion square road
  • The edge of Steven's Green
  • Bram Stolker's house
  • Dublin parlament, Leindster house
  • Hibeornia Way (vs)
  • Gafton street
  • Castle lounge
  • Dame tavern-mercantile
  • Yeats
  • City Hall

At the afternoon we gone to the center of the city and we had time to shopping and walk around there. Then we went to the Temple Bar and we had to ask questions to the locals and it was very funny because they had to sing irish songs to us and some of them were kind of drunk. We were surprised by the fact that they were drunk at 4pm. That would be a point that distinguishes us from the irish.

The guide explained that Dublin is formed by classic building examples of the 18th century and that's why people visit dublin, because of the semetric buildings and color doors. In my opinion, everything that he told us was really interesting, we had the opportunity to learn more about Irish culture, which is very different from the spanish or the catalan.

So here there's a pic that shows how we were spending the night when we had free time before the irish guys started the fight... it was a pitty that we couldn't hang out anymore.

Day 3:
We went to the Guiness store. It was so much fun. Actually we spent more time taking pictures than doing work but anyway we learnt a lot of things about the Guinness drink. Inside the building you could find a lot of cool places and big screens which helped to make the visit such an interesting visit. I liked a lot, it was probably the best museum that I have ever been.

After an intensive morning at the Guinness Store we went to the Trim Castle and we had lunch there. The Trim Castle's visit was pretty boring because the guide explained in a way that everyone was almost felling sleep. Then we took the bus again and we went to the Hill Of Tara. First we saw a 20 minutes video about its legends. We watched it in a church which was actually beautiful. Once it ended we got out of there and we saw the magnific and wonderful green landscape of Hill Of tara with our own eyes. It was amazing.

Day 4:
We went to the Trinity college. We walked around there and the guide explained all about it. We also saw the Long Room, which was a huge library where you could find thousands of books. After that we saw the Book of Kells exhibition which was very interesting.

Barrack museum: I found it extremely boring probably because I was so tired and my eyes were about to close because the last night I went to bed late but anyway it wasn't an eyes-catching visit.

And that was everything that we did in our fourth day.

Day 5:
In that morning we went to a beautiful gardens called Powerscourt Gardens. It was the perfect day despite the wind because the temperature was so good.  I took a lot of pictures of the pleasing garden because I love green landscapes so much.

At the afternoon we went to the Glendalough lake. We had to walk a bit to get there but it was worth it once we arrived. The lake was so big and we took a lot of pictures there too.

Day 6:
Dublin tour political history : We went to the political museum. A guide explained that there are a lot of god stories that includes them. Then he guided us around the city and he showed us each important point on Dublin's history. We saw a famous scultures which symbolizes pain and sadness. We learnt that a lot of emigrants would gone to canada and thats why the escultor of the scultures is canadian. The irish people depended of the harvest by hand (potatos) and the british had all the money. 1/4 of the population died of hunger.

At the afternoon we played Gaelic Games. It was pretty fun I enjoyed a lot the games and I found them really weird but cool. As you know I am a sportive person so that's why I had a really good time.

Day 7:
That was sadly the last day.  We woke up early and we said goodbye to the family. We took the bus and they drove us to the city, Dublin. They gave us plenty of free time to buy little presents to the family, to shopping or just to walk around there and visit new places. At lunch time we went to the Phoenix Park and we had such a great time there chilling and laying on the grass. So that was the last thing we done before going to the aeroport and return to Barcelona.

Family life

So I'm gonna talk a little bit about the family. As I said at the first day paragraph, Cristina and I were lucky with our family. They were nice to us all the time and made us feel really confortable with them. There were five members in that family:
Leisha: The mom of the family. She was a kind person and so funny too. She is 36 years old and she works as a teacher.
Tom: The dad. We didn't see him so much at home but he was nice too. He works as a prison officer (that surprised us a lot). He is 38 years old. Darragh: The oldest brother. He was the shiest but so cute anyway. He was 9 years old and he played soccer almost everyday with Garrot.
Garrot: The middle brother. He was 7 years old and he played soccer with his older brother. He was the funniest; just looking at him you would start to laugh. He made us had fun afternoons there. He is ginger hair.

Gavin: the little brother. He was such a cutie, and he was always in our room watching us. I am sure he misses us, because we do.

Conclusion:
I have enjoyed a lot this trip because I have never been here before. I liked a lot because of the green landscapes and the center of the city. However, I didn't like the food that they gave us and the rainy whether. Despite those facts and the fight with the irish guys, Dublin has been an awesome experience. The only food that I liked was the cereals that I ate every morning, I've bought those, they were yummy! And finally I would like to say that  these work done has been worth it because in this way I will have a memory of the trip and I won't forget it.
